How to Make Moong Dal Cheela
Step 1: Soak the Moong Dal
In a bowl, soak 1 cup of moong dal in water for about 2-3 hours. This makes it easier to blend and digest.
Step 2: Blend the Dal
After soaking, drain the water and transfer the moong dal to a blender. Add a little water (just enough to blend) and blend until you get a smooth batter. It should not be too runny!
Step 3: Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the blended moong dal, chopped onion, chopped tomato, grated carrot, green chilies (if using), a pinch of salt, and cumin powder. Mix well.
Step 4: Heat the Pan
Heat a skillet or tava on medium heat and drizzle a little oil on it.
Step 5: Cook the Cheela
Once the pan is hot, pour a ladleful of the batter onto the skillet and spread it gently into a circle (like a pancake). Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
Step 6: Flip and Cook
Carefully flip the cheela and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes. Drizzle a little oil around the edges for extra crispiness.
Step 7: Serve and Enjoy!
Once cooked, take the cheela off the skillet and keep it warm. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve your Moong Dal Cheela with yogurt or chutney for dipping!
